Lodging options are limited throughout The Abacos, but there are properties on Great Abaco Island, Elbow Cay and Green Turtle Cay. You'll also find five national parks here, including Pelican Cays Land and Sea Park, great for snorkeling, and pastel-colored colonial towns, including the charming Hope Town in Elbow Cay. Popular cays to visit include Great Guana Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Treasure Cay and Elbow Cay.
If you are itching to explore the cays, you can take a private boat or hop on a local ferry. Great Abaco Island and Little Abaco are The Abacos' main islands. The Abacos consists of 120 miles of islands and cays (including Disney Cruise Line's private island, Castaway Cay).
These include The Abacos, Acklins, Andros, The Berry Islands, Bimini, Cat Island, Crooked Island, Eleuthera, The Exumas, Harbour Island, Long Island and San Salvador. To avoid the crowds that inevitably plague the more populous New Providence and Grand Bahama islands, consider staying on The Out Islands, the smaller (and sometimes cheaper) islands scattered throughout the archipelago.
